See my message earlier in this thread.... My dream has been on 20 since the beginning too. Recently the fuse blew, and that's when I discovered the cheap plastic fuse holders had a 15 amp rating. Yesterday my 4 year old dream powered down. Checked the outlet ( it's a 20 amp) and it was fine. Re: Steam boiler issue Mini Vivaldi II

No worries, Chas. As you know, unfortunately I've become quite an expert on temperature sensors...... All of the many failures I have experienced on my Dream(s) have been what would appear to be short circuits in the detectors and that failure mode would cause a high resulting controlled temperature...

Re: Steam boiler issue Mini Vivaldi II

Chas. Wouldn't extra resistance cause the detector to read falsely high, thus making the controlled boiler pressure lower than normal?

Re: Bad Temperature Sensor

They replaced the steam and brew temp sensors. The machine is working OK now. Watch this space for updates if or when they fail again. According to the retailer, this is the one issue that hasn't been fixed on the dream 2.0. They have done this with others machines as well. So for them its the senso...

Re: Bad Temperature Sensor

Yup. I am very worried that I am going down the same rabbit hole as before. I agree that usually these sensors fail open (I guess that would be an offscale high temp). In my case it acts like it shorts out at a particular temp. So, if you just do a blank pull, you see the indicated temp fall from th...

Re: Bad Temperature Sensor

Resurrecting this thread. Its been a bit over a year since I was given a brand new Dream "2.0" (the updated version of the dream). It has been working like a champ up until yesterday, making probably 2 espressos, 2 lattes per day. Yesterday, the early signs of the brew boiler temperature detector fa...

With my original model dream from the first batch I think I experienced pretty well every type of leak. So yes, please send more details and pics and we can help.

Re: Why does it only taste bitter?

OK. I was told I was a bit of a special case because of my unfortunate history with the first two machines I had. They said that they wanted to make sure I got a good one this time, so instead of taking from inventory, they waited till a new shipment came from Italy. Maybe just a story to make me fe...

Good detective work on the offset, Chas. Are you sure that most of the new machines are rebuilt old ones? The one I just got is different enough inside to make me question that.

Re: Questions for New Dream Owners (with Sparkle Covers)

After living with the new Sparkle Dream for a few days, and having owned the original version of the Dream, I've noticed a few differences in operation: 1. The 3 way now works quite obviously. On the original Dream, the operation of the 3 way after a pull was almost silent. You had to look at the en...

Re: Questions for New Dream Owners (with Sparkle Covers)

Just got my new replacement Dream. Latest version with sparkle. Same new weird wrench. Regular hex head bolt, not Philips. Also, as others have noticed, offset came set to -10 f. Not sure why CCS ships them that way. I've noticed that the tubing runs inside the machine are much neater and don't take...

Re: Fill Probe

My experience is the same as Chas. My strips looked like yours, but when I used the liquid aquarium test kit I had 17 grains input instead. I added a bestmax combo filter/ix unit and that brought it down to 3 grains on bypass 1 on the filter.

Chas. You must be talking about the other panel which has the buttons in it. This one has the LCD panel (you can see it in the first picture). The other panel with the buttons has a clear window where the display panel can be seen through. I only changed out this panel.

Re: Group Temp. Sensor Failure

Its working great. Seems like the temperature control is more stable. With the old board and sensor, if you did a pre shot warmup with an empty PF, the indicated temp would overshoot by at least 8 deg f. Now, the temp just nicely returns to the setpoint with minimal overshoot. Back to the great La S...

Re: Group Temp. Sensor Failure

Agreed. Hard to look at the dead machine on the counter. My guess is that as you say, the control board was part of the problem. According to CCS who spoke to LA Spaz in Italy about my situation they felt it was a faulty board too. As for the sensor, the printing is identical in terms of font and lo...

I've received a new temperature sensor, it looks a bit different from the previous ones. Colour is brass now instead of silver, same size, code on white sheath is now "51/2013", probably a date code of some sort. Waiting for new cable and control board to arrive.

Re: Group Temp. Sensor Failure

Well, after a few days of working fine, the temperature control deteriorated as it has 4 times before on this machine. As before, the temperature indication for the group gets increasingly erratic, jumping around from as low as 120 to as high as 210 f. Obviously, cleaning the plug connections was no...
