Returning Vetrano for a V2
Returning Vetrano for a V2
After spending many weeks researching my first Espresso machine I narrowed my choices down to the Vivaldi & the Vetrano. I chose the Vetrano over the Vivaldi mainly due to it's classic looks figuring I could live with the temp surfing/cooling flushes. Well after 10 days of playing with the machine I decided I really didn't want to deal with that every time I wanted to have an Espresso. Wednesday I'm driving up to CC in Albany to return the Vetrano & bring home a 20A V2. I'm installing the new 20A circuit tomorrow & the plumbing/softener system is already in place so I should have the new machine up & running Thursday morning.
I want to thank the site owner & everyone who posts here for all the invaluable info. I already ordered one of the beautiful Thor tampers & I now know where I can buy replacement filters for the CC softener system at considerable savings. I'm sure I'll have some questions soon but for now I just wanted to say hello.

...and I chose the the Vivaldi because it's not a BIG UGLY SHINY BOX. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this is such a subjective thing. I really like the different textures of the S1, the nice sweeping curves and a very quiet appearance as it blends in most kitchens without screaming out "look at me, clean me, love me, don't hate me 'cause I'm beautiful...".JohnB wrote:I chose the Vetrano over the Vivaldi mainly due to it's classic looks

Every time people came over my house they used to get intimidated by the QuickMill machine, most people don't notice Mr. Vivaldi sitting quietly in the corner begging to pull a few dozen shots.
Re: Returning Vetrano for a V2
Keep in mind that I had never seen either machine in person when I ordered the Vetrano, just photos on websites. Having had the Quickmill here I wouldn't call it ugly but it is pretty boxy & not as handsome as I had imagined it would be. Cleaning it is something I definitely will not miss!! I think I'll be very happy with the black V2 & I do still have the "big shiny" Stepless Macap M4 I bought with the Q/V to polish when I get bored.Niko wrote: ...and I chose the the Vivaldi because it's not a BIG UGLY SHINY BOX. I was just giving you a hard time, John :D
The QuickMills are very nice machines, I had one for quite a while sitting on the opposite side of the S1 for quite a while.
Welcome to the S1 Ccafe, it's really nice to have you aboard.
I can't wait to read about your new machine when it arrives.
Congrats
Happy New Year!

Re: Returning Vetrano for a V2
John, I'm nowhere near as close to CC as you, but I hope to get up there and meet the man one day myself. Perhaps this will be the year.JohnB wrote: Wednesday I'm driving up to CC in Albany to return the Vetrano & bring home a 20A V2.
You're welcome. It certainly didn't start out to be what it's become. First it was not much more that a page on my website, then a couple of pages, then I tacked on a quick and dirty forum. Finally it's turned into this!JohnB wrote: I want to thank the site owner & everyone who posts here for all the invaluable info.
The first release of the original S1 was not much different than what it is today but it had some definite shortcomings. We can thank folks that reported on those shortcoming here and/or directly to Chris and Chris' own desire to sell only the best, that resulted in the current excellent generation of VII and VII Mini.
Of course, the helpfulness of those that contribute to the forum on a daily basis is invaluable. Some of the earliest contributors have moved on but a few are still around. Fortunately, it seems that for every one that has moved on two have taken their place. So things are good going into 2008 at the S1Cafe!

It's about a 3+hr drive from here to CC but I'm looking forward to seeing the shop & meeting everyone. I didn't want to play UPS Roulette with either machine & I wanted to get the V2 ASAP. I'll be breaking up the drive with a stop at Barrington Coffee in Lee, Ma. to sample their Espresso which I've heard is pretty good.
Hi,
New Vivaldi owner here...also just sold a Vetrano and purchased a new Vivaldi. I am very close to CC (3 miles maybe) and find myself over there a lot. I had my eye on the Vivaldi for a while. The Vetrano woked fine but I was getting tired of the cooling flush routine and since I also had the Sirai presure stat installed it was a bit noisey. It's taken a while to get used to Mr. Vivaldi but I really do like it better. Just added a new 20 amp circuit earlier today ... wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Welcome Rob! I had the Sirai p/s also but never having heard another Vetrano I wasn't aware it was noisier then stock. The Vivaldi really does grow on you after you use it for awhile & there's no going back after that. Enjoy!rstevens wrote:Hi,
