A fairly brief exchange on HB(?) or alt.coffee(?) confirmed (to my satisfaction) that it's a good idea to wipe or blot the residual water in the group head before pulling the next shot. Schulman goes so far as to recommend immediately starting the shot before even putting the cup in place.
Because the La Spaziale "stores" considerably more water than my prior E61, seems like this phenomenon is worth noting. Since starting to wipe, I've seen a marginal improvement in shots. The already rare channeling has about disappeared. Since I am in my 4th month with the V2, these effects can also be attributed to other aspects of my getting used to the machine.
Thoughts on this?
