My machine is sooo noisy
My machine is sooo noisy
Why does my machine vibrate so loud when I pull a shot? The machine is brand new from Chri's coffee. If I hold the sides it quietes down??

Re: My machine is sooo noisy
Is it a VII or a VII Mini?

Re: My machine is sooo noisy
My first guess would be that the motor condensor is touching the frame (if it is a VII).

Re: My machine is sooo noisy
Here's a thread that describes the issue and how to fix it.
viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1244&p=15037&hilit ... tor#p15037
The 2nd row of photos on the page below show the start up capacitor mounted on the top of the motor from the back of the VII. The 3rd row shows a front view.
s1v2/S1vsVII.php
In any case you will be removing the side, rear, and possibly the front covers to get at it. The photos on the page below show where the panel attachment screws are. There have been some minor design changes since these photos. There are now screws on the bottom that hold he covers to the base of the chassis and they have also added some screws to the top rail to replace the hard to get at knurled knobs used in earlier models. However, it shouldn't be too hard to figure out. In any case, not to worry. Real men always have the covers off within the first 24 hours.

Re: My machine is sooo noisy
Yeah Capacitor ... not condensor! Doaah.
With all due respect Chas. The real men are the one that manage to get the panels back on within the first 24 hrs...
Anyway while the covers are off, I suggest to do a thorough check of all the electrical wires and connections. Also make sure that all the copper tubing are away from anything. After the motor capacitor, they would have been my second guess for rattling.
Finally if you move the capacitor back with spacers (that is what I had to do) make sure that the back end is still clear of the back cover.
Keep us posted. We may help and we may learn.

Re: My machine is sooo noisy
There is no reason to remove anything but the front cover to access the capacitor bracket. Both the nut holding the capacitor in place & the nut holding the bracket are both right there in front.
Re: My machine is sooo noisy
You are correct John. It is probably possible to do a capacitor relocation from the front but to do a good job and to do the inspection that I suggested (it might not be the capacitor after all) I would still recommend to undress the Vivaldi.

Re: My machine is sooo noisy
I had the same issue when my machine was new. If you need better access to the capacitor then the front cover provides just lift off the cup warmer tray. There is no bracket in the rear of the capacitor so you really gain nothing but aggravation by pulling off all those covers. (IMHO of course)

Condenser, capacitor...what's the difference?

If you are working on an old car with points it's a condenser. If you are working on an electric motor it's a capacitor. Go figure.BobUSN wrote:Condenser, capacitor...what's the difference?

Well, for me, one is in French and the other is in English... Since most of my scientific education was done in french, I have a tendency to mix terms.BobUSN wrote:Condenser, capacitor...what's the difference?

Before anybody corrects me, in fact in french it is "condensateur". Very close to the spanish I see.

Re: My machine is sooo noisy
Well I finally put a washer onthe capacitor screw and it moved it off the frame, WOW I can not believe this thing is that quiet, it used to sound like a plane taking off.
