Mini Users - Low water tank level blues

Post by caf4brains »

In the back corner of the Mini's water tank is a float that is used to signal that the water level is too low. Behind the tank is the sensor that detects the float's location. About every third time I refill and reinstall the tank the indicator lamp incorrectly shows a low level. I've moved the sensor forward and backward, pushed the tank in gently or forcefully......eventually the lamp goes out but the problem never goes away. The float isn't stuck - it goes to its upper limit.

Has anyone else had the problem and found the magic bullet :?:

My mini water level indicator works right, at least for now.

Mine works fine too (guess you didn't want to hear that).

Could it be the float itself? Have you considered getting Chris to send you a new one of those?

I remember some floats on the early Quickmills used to get damaged. The magnet would get loose inside the float and drop down. If you shook a bad float, it would rattle.

Or perhaps yours has become demagnetized somehow?

I'm not sure if it's the same thing on the Mini but it might be something to consider once you eliminated the senor as the source of the problem.

Thanks for the idea to check the condition of the magnet! I'll give that a go.
