John Tapia Espresso Zen

Post by oton »

I know very very little about making espresso, in fact I never used a real espresso machine and I've never used a tamper, so I'll not do critics (good or bad)... however I have my face something like  watching this video:

*Me thinks that something is going wrong :|

A good quote from the author:

"to know one thing well is to know all things" or "to master one discipline is to master all" ...making a good espresso, creating and design in general is to understand the nature of the universe, to understand the cause and effects of all the variables.

Pretty funny. Rather clueless I'd say. I love the "jack-hammer" doser tamping technique.

I'm surprised he didn't get up on the counter & step on the tamper with his foot to REALLY make sure it was packed tight enough!

My wife, who isn't the most attentive home barista, was watching this with me and exclaimed "What the hell is that guy doing?" I'm so proud!
