Bump
I used an Insteon I/O Link Controller wired into the keypad. This was working passably for quite a few years but now has become unreliable enough that I have turned it off. I'm looking for a more reliable solution using Insteon or Z-Wave.
Had anyone make progress on this?
Thanks.

Re: HOWTO: Installing a power-on timer on your S1 (Request)
I too have successfully automated the S1V2 by using an Insteon I/O Link Controller connected to pins 1 and 6, as outlined above. It took a bit of trial and error to get the timing right, but it now works very reliably.

Re: The Latest S1/VII News from Chris Coffee
Temperature Sensor Supplier Change
LaSpaziale recently changed suppliers of the temperature sensors. They found the new one to be more reliable and more sensitive.
I think the temperature sensor change is not recent. From what I've been told, all VII's shipped from Chris Coffee were ...

I have visited their coffee shop in Lenox and I can say that they are very serious about their espresso. They have a very good machine (I forget the brand) and Mazzer grinders. And every shot is pulled with a naked portafilter. Since visiting their shop, I have adopted this custom as well. It helps ...

temperature stability?
I have started to notice that my temperature lights are acting differently than I remember. (Of course, my memory is not to be trusted, hence this post.) Here is what is happening:
Start pour:
94 led (and all below): on steady
During pour (approx mid way or later):
92, 93, 94 leds: off

Yeah, it's certainly a well built grinder, i just felt that for ~$700, a complex dosing & distribution approach like the WDT shouldn't be needed, YMMV.
Hmm, perhaps you are expecting too much from the grinder? I went with the doserless since I didn't want stale (> 1 hour) grinds in my pf. The mini ...

I have an S1 VII and a MiniE doserless. I use a modification of the WDT with excellent results. I think its a great grinder. Very easy to keep clean, nice and quiet and easy to change beans. I don't really use the auto dosing feature (other than as an auto shutoff) since I weigh the grinds.
