S1 Vii brew boiler temperature sensor

Hi all,

The temp sensor in my S1 Vivaldi ii has seemingly gone bad. The brew boiler isn't coming up to temp, purging cold, and the temperature gauge on the display just reads 'up to temp - 93 degrees, 3 green LEDs' all the time. I opened her up and found that the temp sensor copper tube that goes into the back of the boiler was looking pretty bad, scaled up. The temp sensor has no continuity so I presume failed. Hopefully the images i have submitted are uploaded.

After seemingly hours of research I can't quite work out whether MPN SP 7540 - LA SPAZIALE TEMPERATURE SENSOR FOR VIVALDI is an RTD PT1000 Type 501 sensor or an NYC Thermister with a neg- temp coefficient. I can't measure the resistance on mine so can't work out!

There is seemingly differing advice. Otherwise, getting hold of one in the UK - anyone have any leads?

Have you called and asked the tech support at Chris Coffee? (US-based) I wouldn't be able to answer your question, but they have proven very knowledgeable and helpful when I've had repairs and questions in the past.

I'm in the UK, but I haven't yet, no. I'd feel slightly bad about just using them as a free helpline considering I haven't bought anything from them! At this point I've ordered a replacement temp sensor from a distributor in the UK and will see if it's hopefully the right thing... I'll post an update.

I think? this is the correct one for the S1 brew boiler, but I can't be sure.

Thanks, I went ahead and purchased that one based on your post and have installed it with a little dab of silicone holding it in. Will test this evening and report back.
