Minimum Warm-Up Time

All you Scace owners. What's the minimum warm-up time for the Vivaldi?

I heard everything from 15 minutes to 45 minutes.

How does using a bottomless PF reduce warm up time?

Couldn't find a post on this anywhere (Sorry if it was discussed to death already).

I'd consider 20 minutes a minimum but 30 minutes would be better. Since I normally start the day with vac pot brew my machine has usually been on for several hours before I pull the first shot. Not an issue here as my amazingly lifelike & anatomically correct timer is always up before me & makes sure that the machine is turned on. While I tested for brew temp change times with the scace I never did any temp testing for minimum warm up times. The scace needs to warm up on the machine for 30-60 minutes so I don't see how you could get accurate readings for warm up times.

Are you thinking the reduced mass of the bottomless p/f will draw less heat away from the grouphead therefore allowing a quicker warm up?

That's what I'm thinking. I got up late a few times while on vacation and only got a 15 minute warm-up.

I did 2 warming flushes (wating for all LEDS to come back each time) and everything tasted the same as the usual 45 minute warm-up.

This always seemed like one of the big advantages over the massive E-61s (and another plus the green folks).

I must say, I've gotten away from my original "always on" philosphy since the steam boiler on the Mini only takes 4 minutes to warm-up and the brew boiler seems to heat adequately (for my taste at least) in 15 minutes. Less scale build-up, and gasket replacement with reduce "on time" too.

Not for everyone obviously since I know many people like having the hot water always available. Nice to have both options though.

Same here. But with only 10 - 12 minutes. However I have to say that here is summer now and my house is hot as hell (28-30ºC). I do 2-3 flushes and the Mini seems ready to brew some nice coffee. This machine is FAST. I think that the little .45 l boiler and the group design is a great idea.

Mine is fast too. About 8-10 min for brew boiler, and 12-14 min for steam. If I flush, the LED will flash for a min or so.

Actually those are slow warm up times for an S1 but just because the boilers are up to temp doesn't mean the machine is ready to pull shots. The grouphead has to come up to temp also & that takes either time or multiple flushes if you want to brew at your set temp.

I am very content with these specs. After my shover the machine is ready. Dont Care if grouphead is not warm enough. Cant taste any difference. At least not in my capps, which I drink most of the time
