PF Dimensions

Post by virginiacoffee »

Greetings,
I come here, not as an S1 user, but looking for a quick measurement for the S1 PF. I have a rebadged Isomac with a 53mm PF. Having recently seen the bottomless PF at ChrisCoffee, I'm trying to figure if the S1 PF will fit my machine. What I'm looking for is the HxWxD of the ears. Position might not be bad either. If someone can help, that'll be great.

Thanks,
va coffee

While your waiting for someone to breakout their micrometer and take some measurements for you, have you considered calling Espresso Parts NW. I'm pretty sure they carry PFs for both machines and can tell you if they are interchangeable.

Thanks Chas. I'll give that a whirl. If I find something out, I'll drop a note back to complete the circle.

Chas,
Is that www.espressoparts.com? I looked around their site and found neither La Spaziale nor Isomac.

Thanks,

That's the right place, but for something like this you probably need to call:

Well, unless I got real creative, this won't work. I spoke with Devon at EPNW. According to him, the S1 will have a 3-eared pf. True? If so, it would take some significant work to make one work. My machine uses a 2 eared pf.

On the other hand I believe you can directly order a bottomless PF from EPNW or even ship them one of yours and have them cut it for you.

Both of my S1 PF's are two eared, not three. WITH a basket in the PF, the top of the ear is 5mm from the top of the basket. The bottom is 11mm from the top of the basket. The top of the ear is also not perpendicular to the PF although the bottom of the ear is. The ears are approximately 22mm in length (outer circumference). Given the fact that the folks at EPNW told you it has three ears, I would suggest a call to Chris at Chris's Coffee. I purchased my S1 and my TEA from him. He is likely to be able to direct you in the proper direction.

Good luck,
Barry

What Chas really wants you to see are his very nice Thor handles!

I have two Thor tampers. One is of three woods, but I can't remember what. The other is a 53MM of solid walnut, ironwood base, and a 1942 walking liberty silver dollar imbedded in the top of the handle.

Barry,
Thanks for the measurements. I'm a bit off, so it probably won't work. Here's my measurements for the same you posted:

Barry's Mine
Basket to top of ear 5mm 3mm
Basket to bottom of ear 11mm 9mm
ear lenght, outside 22mm 17mm

Thanks again for the help guys!
