Ever considered a lever?

Post by coffeeowl »

Anyone of you fancy lever machines? If yes, which one?

Before I decided on the S1 I really liked what I was reading about the Gaggia Achille.

I might be swayed into one

Funny you ask...
I'm looking for a 3rd machine in a few months.

Niko is building his Coffee Museum! Next thing you need is a green house attached to the house so you can grow a few coffee plants....

Funny! That's what my father said when he saw my machine first time - 'so are you going to have a farm?'
I must worn you all anyway... looks like there are no reliable machines out there now - specially the Achille's having issues not yet fixed. That certainly would be the one to go for someone wishing to use the lever more often then twice every three hours   :)
For me, the Electra is appealing most, but the spring :?

I got a great deal on a 1983 Elektra last September. There's no way I would part with it!

It's currently living at work. I found that I hadn't used it at all since I got my Vivaldi installed.

Had a wonderful cappuccino yesterday afternoon.

I've been considering picking up something small, like a Gaggia Factory, to use at work. And of course a small grinder to go with it.

Maybe you could post some nice pictures?
How is the brew pressure under the power of spring piston? On H-B I read that it's about 6bar instead of 9 and that keeps me thinking... anyway Niko's pressure report  also keeps me thinking: on my machine I have straight 9bar on a free run; with coffee (16g for the beans I currently use) it hits 9 and then at the moment right after bidding; when the nectar starts hanging heavily and then makes a cone - it builds up to almost 10.

I've got a h*ll of a deal for you on a Proteo Barista and a Breville.

Actually, I couldn't do that to you. I wonder what I could get for the scrap metal?

I'll post a pic later this afternoon...

I believe it does do about 6 bar. The results in the cup are very satisfying.

First one this afternoon. The cup is a 4 oz Lavazza cup I got this morning for $2. Very hard to steam the milk for such a small cup. Bubbles way too big. I'll probably have another one in about 90 minutes and will steam a larger quantity of milk.

I have an Olympia Cremina that I picked up on EBay about a year ago. Makes very nice coffee. I've fooled around witha Europiccola and have no desire to own one. Michael

Oh, haha. Here's one of the setup. It's a little blurry.

Ugh, I have one of those travel grinders you show in the foreground. It does a good job if you don't mind turning the crank for about 5min per tablespoon!

hm, so I have to give birth to $$$ (or rather $$$$... or $$$$$ isn't it :D )
for the Cremina/Electra (yea, BOTH :D ) seems to be the way to go. :)
BTW, on H-B there's a smiley per post limit. :? Crazy. :P
