I've been roasting beans and pulling shots since about 1997. I thought I was pretty good at both until I found CoffeeGeek and this site.
My question is; where/what is a good source to learn the basics all over again (and then progress to the advanced knowledge) ?
The local place that sells me my green beans has instructional DVD's but they are $90 a pop.
Thanks!
Stupid new guy question
Hi Zoey,
For roasting, I learned a lot from the Sweet Maria's Coffee Library, it's a little disorganized but has a lot of information. There is also the book "Home Coffee Roasting: Romance And Revival" that is informative, I found it useful initially.
For making espresso, I'm still wet behind the ears making espresso, but got a lot of use out of the "How-Tos" section at Home-Barista, and just asking questions on this board and H-B when I get stumped with something.
Interesting that you'd want to review from the beginning, are you experiencing something in particular?

I know what you mean, sometimes I read things I've never considered and can't even imagine spending time to sort them out.
I showed a work-friend the Coffee Geek site once and he fell out in astonishment. He was polite enough to not actually laugh out loud, what with me sitting right there and everything, but... it was pretty funny to watch!
