working surface

So finally got the go ahead from my wife to buy a new espresso machine. Having done many hours of research the Vivaldi II is the machine for me! So how much working area is needed for this machine? My old Gaggia took very little counter space and now with the upgrade I am getting the question of how much space will be taken up by this beast? The current dimensions I work with are 33 L X 19 D (numbers in inches). Is this enough working space to house the the S2, grinder (mcap 4) and a knock box?

I don't think that you will fit in that space very well. I currently occupy about 38" of counter space and I have a small grinder than yours.

I think you are skimping, especially on the depth. There should be room enough in front to set a cup and saucer, or a knockbox, although you can work without that. However, if everything else is going to be beside the Vivaldi, you would need more width.

I'm working in about 25" deep by 30" wide, and I really want a wider area, which is on its way to completion.

If there are drawers under the work area, will you be able to use them for storing the accessories and bits and pieces?

Jdan - Take a look at the pics I just posted on the Pride Page. The distance from the inner edge of the KA Pro grinder base to the outer edge of the Macap base is 33". The distance from the rear of the Macap base to the front edge of the counter is 19". You can fit in that space but it will leave little room to work.

Think about mounting the S1 on a storage unit w/drawer which could hold your knockbox or put the k/b in a drawer under the counter as I did.

Hmm, so it looks like I will need to do some custom work! What would a reasonable amount of counter space be for this set up? Perhaps I can utilize the existing setup but put a new top on that is wider. There are 2 drawers directly under the top and a cupboard with selves under those.

I'm working with 24"X36" on my VII. Same with my other S1 but I've extended the counter space with a little cart and that sometimes doesn't seem enough.
