The wait for my new Vivaldi II is killing me!

Post by Bushrod »

I've had my brand new Viv II in the basement for two weeks now. My kitchen might be useable later this week. Hopefully, I can be pulling shots by Friday.

I'm dying to use it!

I just had to vent!

You can't hook it up down there temporarily?
I'd be pulling shots in a phone booth if I had to...

Oh man, I only had to wait a week to get mine going. Deep breathing exercises, calisthenics, dunno what will help!

Now I just wait on the various accessories that I seem to keep ordering to arrive. I'm still pulling shots into what I *thought* were my scotch glasses, turns out they're ideal for espresso, too!

Ok, things are looking up. I think the plumber and electrician will be finished today!

My water connection is a full copper up from the basement with the softener and filter inline. Softener and filter are mounted on the wall above the clothes washer. Very nice!

The contractor installed a chrome valve in the hole drilled in the countertop. It looks awesome!

You're gettin' all fancy on us!
You better post a pic of all that

Oh, yeah, I already thought of posting photos. I'll try to get a couple tonight.

Ok, it turns out that what I have is similar to or exactly like a 90 degree angle stop valve. Imagine the top one sticking out of your countertop!

Arg! I'm 99% there.

The water hose that came with it doesn't fit!

Time to run to Home Depot!

Probably pull my first shot tomorrow night...

Darn, I can't find anything to fit. Maybe I have the wrong hose.

It's the same at both ends. Is that 3/8 or 1/4?

The fixture is 3/8 but the hose connector is just barely too small.

Any ideas?

Can you post a pic of the exact fitting you are trying to connect to? The Vivaldi hose is 3/8 & accepts a standard JG male 3/8 fitting. The 3/8 being the internal measurement not the threaded area.

I wonder if it would fit tighter with a wrap or two of teflon tape?

Here are the filters.

The fixture on the counter top. Looks nice. Hose too small and won't screw on. I'll let the contractor handle it.

Sweet!

This is a LOT like my project two weeks ago. Header board attached with a drill hammer & Tapcon screws. I ended up putting a Tee and a Regulator/Gauge after the carbon filter; the Tee was good advice from this board, I used it to flush 5 gallons through the softener & filter into a bucket to get rid of the initial sediment from the filter.

Soldering was something fun to learn, too, I'd never done any open-flame soldering, only electronics.

I ran the output up through the floor inside a wall and out through a blank wall plate, not as nice as your valve but not a hack job either. Nice setup!

Second shot! Naturally, I was too excited by the first to grab the camera! I drank it right down!

The first shot was Black Pearl that's probably a day or two past it, ground too fine. Took probably 60 secs for 1.5 oz. Wrong in every way, yet tasted quite good!
