Flow meter sound

Post by jfrescki »

So I've mentioned the "aoogah" sound my flow meter makes in previous posts (when my pre-infusion failed). I've turned a blind eye to it, but is this something I should fix now because the sound means imminent failure?

I don't know if you need to replace it yet, but it might not hurt to have a spare part on hand. Can you record the sound and post it here?

It's the sound that happens between 4 & 5 seconds here. EDIT: The sound still occurs even though the pre-infusion chamber is gone, so I assume it's the flow meter.

I've never owned a tank version nor have I ever heard any LaSpaziale espresso machine make that noise before. I am not sure what could be making that noise, so I'll take your word for it that it's coming from the flow meter.

Also, where is that drip coming from that I have circled below? This doesn't look right. Of course, the part on the left actually looks like part of the preinfusion chamber so perhaps this video was taken while you still had the PI attached and the drip was the reason you removed it???

Exactly. The squeal you heard at about 3 seconds was the chamber failing (along with the drip). The chamber's been gone since January. The machine still makes the sound you hear from 4-5 seconds, and I'm assuming it's the flow meter.

The other sound seems normal - for a LaSpaz - to me. They all do that.
