Confirming part # for steam boiler pressure relief valve

Post by TruthBrew »

Hey guys, back again.... so I completely descaled the steam and group boilers, sounds and looks (internally) much nicer now!

Bad news is that what I assume is a pressure relief valve on the steam boiler started leaking and now completed popped! I was going to order a new one but wanted to confirm it is Part No. 508. Can anyone confirm that this is a pressure relief valve and that it is the proper part #? Can't find it on Chris Coffee website.

That part is actually the Vacuum Breaker Valve, but 508 is the right part number. It never hurts to have a spare but you can often rejuvenate this valve by soaking it in vinegar for a few hours. The CCS site does show a few of these for different machines including at least one that will fit the S1 but not the same style.

So, is there an o-ring/gasket that is supposed to also go with that Vacuum Breaker Valve? I cannot get it tightened down enough to stop leaks even with teflon tape.

Mine is just installed with Teflon tape and I have been able to seal it without any issue (I take it out to descale periodically). There was never an o-ring or seal in addition to the Teflon tape.

Use 3-4 wraps of tape. Whatever it takes.
