I rented it a couple weeks ago and have since returned it.

I sent an email to Gregor at the address on his webpage (see signature in the first post) and he got back to me promptly.

Hello, new to the forum, and I saw this topic which interested me because I made my own "scace" device (without pressure gauge at the moment) using the 3D printer at work and would possibly consider renting it out if there is a specific need and the OP is no longer interested in doing so. I have no intention of beating him out if he is still around and doing it, but I didn't see any response to the requests here lately. If OP is still doing it then I absolutely don't want to interfere. I think it's a cool idea, however.

Sounds like a great idea. Sakurama (handle of guy with Scace device) won't mind having another source. He only charges enough to cover his costs and it's got to be a PITA for him, even though he's too nice a guy to admit it.

He does have a digital thermometer device that he will throw into the mix for those that don't already have one. Are you willing to go that far or would those renting your device need to supply their own? These days there actually are some pretty good inexpensive ones out there. So it shouldn't be a big deal if folks need to buy their own or borrow one from a friend.

Here is my setup. And I think it would be reasonable to throw in the multimeter for this cause. This works well, but the needle valve is prone to bumping and needing adjustment. If I knew the orifice size I would just use a fixed hole in a cap. I haven't taken the time to do that as this works for my needs, but I will think about that some more if it will be used for prime time. The puck is 3D printed out of ABS. The rest is really simple. Fits in any standard 58mm bottomless portafilter. Since this is my creation for my personal use, it has never been verified for accuracy except my using boiling water, and taking our altitude into the calculation. Pretty close, methinks.

Well the LaSpaziale uses a 53mm Portafilter so this won't work.

You are right, I will have to redesign the puck. I just bought my laSpaziale, used, and have been using the E61 and other commercial groupheads up until now. Not a big deal, but will require a redesign. I will do it, as I will want to verify the temps on my machine as I dial it in for the first time. Thanks for pointing that out for me.

I am almost done with my homemade thermofilter. Here is the 3D printed puck.

I don't know if this request is directed to me or the other gentleman who was renting his scace out. I offered some time ago to rent my homemade version of the thermofilter out if the other guy was no longer doing it. If you are interested I will try to get my stuff together in the next week or so. I'm still visiting family in KS.

I may be interested, yeah! How much is the cost to rent it? I was also kind of thinking of making one myself also, but wanted to see how much it costs to rent one first

I'm in 85050 zip code, Phoenix, AZ

Thanks!

Adam

@ Ruthlessaz,
I'm thinking like $40, if you have your multimeter that you can use for reading the thermocouple.

Is any body still doing Scace Rentals?
I'd be interested in renting one to check my system.
I know this thread has been quite a long time but hoping.

Hello,

I would also be very interested to rent one to test the temperature of my machine.
It appears I am too new to be able to send a PM.
Thank you for letting me know!

Thank you. PM received, but I can't even respond to it privately...
I don't currently have a compatible device, but I was going to get this one:

@coffeewiser
That device looks far better than what I have and use. The only thing that I notice offhand is that it looks like you will need an adapter to the wider-spaced prongs which are typically found on more basic electronic multi-testers.
This is the updated model for the S1 that I've been using.

Can you PM me an alternate contact method so I can send you my address and also so we can arrange some sort of compensation to rent your device? Thank you!
