Proper alignment of output line for pump replacement

Long time owner and S1Cafe person, just not active.

Had to replace the pump and motor due to the dreaded leak and corrosion issues. Everyone that said this is easy, I would hate to see what you think is hard.

Anyhow... any tips to get the 90 degree elbow on the pump output to face towards the back of the machine while cinched up? When I tighten mine, it always wants to face the front which would not work to route the hoses and my attempts are kinking the line.

Teflon tape acceptable? Didn't seem like there was any on it from the factory circa 2006

I certainly used teflon tape on mine when I replaced the pump.

I think the very first time you work on an espresso machine is trying. After that it gets better.

Teflon tape is your best friend

I will rebuild my pump. After watching a pump rebuild video realize it is not difficult but quite interesting. The brass pump body is typically in good condition anyway. Rebuild kit is a fraction of the cost since you are not paying for the brass body again. Shipping weight is less also.

Have a look;
