High Pitch Sound

Post by innermusic »

I used to have this problem, and can't remember how I resolved it. As the machine heats up and pressure builds, it emits this high pitch dog whistle sound for a few seconds. After every shot or steam, it happens again. This only started happening after I adjusted the pressure to 9 bars. Now it squeaks every 5 or 10 minutes for a couple of seconds, presumably as pressure builds in the OPV.

Suggestions?

It's hard to be much help unless you can post a recording of the noise. If it's the OPV it would have nothing to do with the fact that you adjusted the pump to 9 bar. That might have a modest effect on how fast water flows into the steam boiler in order to refill it but not on the actual boiler pressure.

Since you have a V2 you should have a steam boiler pressure gauge that will tell you if any pressure issues are occurring in your boilers. Do you see abnormal pressures on the gauge right before you hear the noise?

Have you taken the covers off and tried to ascertain where the noise is coming from?

Maybe it is the "whirling fan"?
Do a search on noisy fan to find a fix if it is that.
Good luck.
