Re: Correlation between Crema and Shot Quality
I know there are discussions I've read where some definitely prefer shots from traditional spouts, but can't remember the logic as to why that is. The naked PF show sure is fun to watch though. I cannot say that I notice a taste difference with spout or without. That is, if the spouts are at the ri...

Here is my Canadian cent worth: Crema production is more related to the coffee origins and the coffee varietal and also to coffee freshness. Some beans just generate more crema, along with less body. Like Endo, I also believe that the smaller basket diameter/height ratio of the Vivaldi is the reason that I am finding better results with longer pours and pre-infusion. Not all silicone rubber gaskets are created equal. The thing with silicone rubber gasket, is that they must be torqued very evenly and not too tight. Welcome to S1 Cafe. The pre-infusion is a means by which water is applied to the coffee puck with a lower pressure for a certain amount of time before the full pressure of the pump is applied. Could it be some cavitation from the Flojet not following and the air bubbles being filled by steam? Just a guess, based on the fact that it occurs on the second shot.

Shipping, in a standard USPS box was $11.95. at my door in about 5 days.
The Box was pristine.
P.S.: Just had a blend 50% Kenya AA (FC) 50% Aged Sumatra (FC+) 16.5 grams. Soooooo smooth and creamy. Just a pleasure to drink.... Just thought that I would share that. Did mentioned the after taste...?

Since you are tamping in the basket, unless you are applying some kind of pressure on the handle, there is no reason for the basket to come out? Since the pressure is on the basket and the basket is contacting the tamping stand (I assume you have some kind of stand), why would the basket come up. I ...

No not at all. I trust that the people at CC will ensure that the packaging will be adequate. And it is not like a P/F is a delicate article!

The cost of fuel to Freeport cannot be justified for a small package but It probably makes sense for a larger order.
I asked for a quote for shipping the Bottomless and triple via USPS to Montreal. I'll let you know how it turns out.

It really makes a difference for me.
Since I have the MXKR it is a "no brainer" since I purge a good 5-7 grams of coffee out of the grinder every morning. This purge material goes in the sacrificial shot!
The second shot is always tastier.
