according to chris coffee, loose fuse holder which caused arcing around the fuse which burnt out the fuse (and the holder?); seems strange to have that smoke and smell from the fuse: guess i should have checked, because it sounds like something i could have easily fixed, but it might have been a few...

to me,it was the smell of burnt electrical components; from the top view, nothing appeared fried, melted etc; i plan on having a look tonight, but at present it seems the quickest fix could be to overnight the machine to chris coffee

in some of my shots, i notice that the crema fades a bit too quickly; this only happens in the cappa cups ( 5 or 6 oz) and not the smaller espresso cups; the fading generally starts as a cresent at the side of the cup; any similar experiences or thoughts on what causes this to happen

at the two better coffee shops i go to in ny, they have synesso machines and always dose triples, 21 - 23 gs depending on the coffee; it makes for quite the strong latte in the 6 oz cup; at the other shop they use black cat with the sleek 10 oz iitala mugs which is really good

dont you have the slight convex with your thor tampers; for me, with the convex, i get less of a dent in the puck when i try to get 17gs in with black cat or organic black cat

thanks. i have tried 93 and 94 in the past with no success. 93, in retrospect, was sour to my taste. i went with 95 based on the temperature they are using in one of my favorite ny coffee shops. if you havent done so, check out the black cat at 95 degrees

i have had the daterra from terroir (no reserve designation) that was ok, but not great. i thought the daterra reserve from ecco caffe was three stars

i enjoy the milk drinks and generally start in the morning with the 6 oz cup for my first. if its a weekend and im around, i move to the 5 oz for my second. i like those cups and bought one set of 6 ozs, a set of 5ozs and a set of espresso cups (2oz i think)

try ecco caffe; i had great success with the daterra reserve and the screen dried yellow burbon

i always thought that when i have the soupy - wet - puck its because i have ground a bit too fine, but often the soupy finish gives me a great shot at 25 to 30 seconds. i dont think it matters

i like the monkey blend, but i have only used it with the VII; did not like the liquid amber which blonded on me pretty early and was a bit thin; currently have another blend, something sucro, but have not tried it yet

sorry to be a bother, but i would hate to start taking the machine apart and then get stuck or have it not work when i get it back together
