You are right Chas.

I forgot that Indeed I had to change the bolts because they were too short to get 2 washers (or a secondary nut). It was an horrible process to try to get the fan back with the bolts stuck in place by the secondary nut. Slipping two washers taped together is easier in my opinion.

Re: How I added LED lighting to my Vivaldi II

I agree with John, that a higher line pressure is better. It helps the effectivness of the pre-infusion. I, also, slected the highest dependable line pressure that I could get.

Re: How I added LED lighting to my Vivaldi II

After questionning the need and benefit of a pressure regulator I finally installed one to bring the line pressure down. The line pressure in my home is pretty high (approx. 50psi), I could have lived with it but after a while I realised that it was varying slowly from as high as 65 psi to as low as...

The Ikea LED "pods" have a focused beam. Don't know the angle but you get off beam within +/-45 so it can't be more than 90 degrees.

Re: How I added LED lighting to my Vivaldi II

I have installed the Ikea round pods, unlike SwingT and Rick A, because it was a brainless installation. It was easy but do not get the brightness that can be seen in pictures and I am disappointed. The Ikea setup is about the same price (a bit less). I will bite the bullet and order the Superbright...

I think that for sure the "official" drip tray can be made to work well and is very convenient. The only reason I went for an alternate scheme is the cost. $60+ dollars (canadian price) for the kit is ridiculous.

Re: spaziale 53mm basket actual size

Maybe its something unique to the Vivaldi, because Ive read this question quite often, but IMO, there is no need for an absolute seal.... In fact, too good of a seal will ruin your shot build, because of the vaccum caused when you lift the tamper out. Ive never had a tamper custom sized, and all of...

Considering how obsessive you are about cleaning the group I'm surprised you'd leave the grounds rotting in a wet drip tray for weeks. I dumped my tray twice a day just to get rid of the old grounds. By the way the Speedster drip tray drain is 1/2"id. I wrote that I was experimenting with the ...

Re: Draining, without using the LS Kit

The Vetrano kit is using 3/8" JG fittings & the 3/8 refers to the OD of the tubing/pipe that the JG will accept. The actual size (ID) of the drain hole is approx 7/32" which as I said is a pretty small drain hole. Factor in the grounds rinsed out of your p/f & there isn't going to...

I would strongly recommend tahht you perform detergent backflush more often than every 2-3 weeks. I do it every day but I am crazy I guess. Chemical backflush every day !!!!! WHAT? I'm well aware what the "green colored scale" is & I'm also well aware that it is pitting the inside of the boiler. When the scale is removed there is a pit left in the boiler where the chrome plating used to be. I don't think this is coincidence but you might. Are you aware that thes...

Re: How to diagnose cause of dripping group?

My thought was that a piece of scale from the brew boiler could have come loose & become stuck in the valve face area. I do not believe that coffee oil would have caused this problem unless the machine had gone many months without cleaning. La Spaziale uses the two screen design to trap the cof...

Just looked at the hydraulic schematic and my guess is that the 3 way valve is no closing/switching properly. In an attemp to save the situation I would recommend that you backflush multiple times, to get rid of any potential contamination that may be preventing the valve to operate properly. If it ...

Just a comment on the exposed copper in the boiler. Don't worry about it. All these copper tube are not plated inside! It will not affect the taste and the corrosion of copper is not very fast. If you are testing the pressure with no outlet, the pressure you will read is higher than the pressure would be with a flow. This is true no matter how small the flow. I hads just the amount of glamour to the otherwise somewhat discrete Vivaldi. Only drawback I can see is that I'll have (as soon as I manage the modification myself) to keep the stainless backsplash sparking clean like yours! :-P
