Re: motor/pump noise
I hope you didn't drink that shot. Just a guess but the front bearing in your pump motor may be shot. Whatever the noise is it is resonating inside the machine so pushing on the side covers might quiet it down some. Time to open it up & take a look. It should be pretty obvious where that noise ...

Thanks for your responses and ideas. Will open tomorrow and check the motor / pump. Just when I got Carraro Globo beans roasted in Italy. Check out this. I wonder if they have a suitable bearing? Is it necessary to use "food grade" waterproof high temp grease ???
If so any suggestions / sources? If not needed any suggestions for regular high temp waterproof grease?

have you had a chance to inspect the board? Does it have any sort of data port or connector?

Re: Flash firmware in VI
I need to do some homework since my S1 V1 is a 220volt machine. I figured that with 2 boilers and the 110V amperage discussions that it would be better to run it as it was engineered, plus the capability to use it in other countries. So far machine has had zero problems. Perhaps there is a forum abo...

S1 viv vs GS3
I sampled shots pulled using the SAME beans on a LM multigroup Machine and an S1. No perceivable difference. Unless the GS3 is a lot better than their multigroups, I can say I would rather get an S1, a Ditter grinder, a roaster or a trip to italy then just a GS3, no grinder.

I have pulled shots on a LM multigroup machine and compared with those on my S1 using the SAME coffee beans. After more than 20 years of espresso drinking, preparation, study, and travel in Italy, I cannot taste or perceive any difference in a shot from either machine. IMO, spending the extra money(...

I'd still like to see a kit for the existing S1 owners to upgrade to the dual gauge setup like the VII. That would mean a new cover as well and I'm willing to throw down for it, I'm sure others would agree and chime in. Why not use the same dimension round gauge but a dual guage; steam and brew pre...

dont have this issue but in reading the thread an alternative to heatsink compound comes to mind. cpu heat conductive grease; should not harden thus will not stick probe and be tough to remove in future. it conducts heat very well. below is snipped from http://forums.amd.com/lofiversion/index.php/t1...
