Re: Steam Boiler Keeps Refilling (S1)

You are right that it was not built to do that, it has been doing it for a year, so I can't complain, but the pump might die. I use Rao/Perger water from here: https://coffeeadastra.com/2018/12/16/water-for-coffee-extraction/ I ended up buying a new probe and, when I was putting it in, I noticed tha...

Steam Boiler Keeps Refilling (S1)

Hi, As a preamble, my S1 is not plumbed into a water line, but a water jug with no flojet. The setup has never caused any issues, aside from when it runs out of water and pumps a little air. This happened recently, but I am not sure if it's related to the issue or caused by the issue. The machine, w...

Re: Another New to me thread - thread sealant question

The pump pressure should be adjusted, so it might be at 8 bar in your case because it's been set to that. I remember Chaz told me that, on non-Mini, to get a group pressure of ~9 bar, you would want a ~10.5 bar pressure at the gauge. I don't expect this to necessarily translate to the mini 1:1, but ...

Adding preinfusion manually

Hi, my S1 has the old board, which does not support preinfusion and cannot be upgraded. I do have a relay board that is already used with the machine (for a timer) and would like to add preinfusion myself. (this is an introduction, the question is after this) Basically my idea is to splice the hot p...

Re: HOWTO: Installing a power-on timer on your S1 (Request)

That is the way. You can also get it from the same magnetic valve directly on the board, as it is done in the myTimer.
I like your system Slavka001. It is also quite cheap, in the same range as diy modifications of that kind. Good job.

I don't own a Dream, but this sounds a lot like the common issue with the vivaldi where the pump leaks and the shaft between pump and motor can fill with scale.
I would remove the pump and look at it. See more here.

I have spent the last month (I am slow) implementing myTimer on my machine, with my modifications. I have also modified it to my liking a bit, to add preinfusion and rem...

I read that, it makes me wonder if I should still replace the bearing for good measure, even though the motor seems to turn fine. I did, to no avail. I had to move it to the "workbench", get the motor+pump assembly out and hammer in a razor blade on the entire circumference before the two came apart. Usual amount of shavings, luckily the motor still turns beautifully (by hand). The pump does not, should it? It turns,...

As my pump has started to not engage every once in a while (no grinding noise that I could detect), I wanted to see the debris for myself before ordering the replacement. I have noticed that, if you open the front or the top of the machine, right at the group head, opposite to the solenoid connector there is another connector that has been plugged and sealed with teflon tape. Well, I had thought that, as long as the board was the V2, it would be possible to do upgrade it, but it turns out that even those have different chip numbers, so that my was an old one that cannot be upgraded.
Btw, a replacement board is $500, so it's really a volatile market :D

When you say ~9 bar when water is flowing through, do you mean as seen on the internal gauge?
So the discrepancy would only be between the blind basket and the actual espresso, not between the internal gauge and the real pressure?

Re: Espresso shot parameters not quite right, help?

Is the 10.5 bar setting valid on all machines? I was quite satisfied when I saw mine hitting 9 bar steadily, but I'm now rethinking this.
Is the gauge just not well printed or is it reading a wrong pressure? That is to say a portafilter gauge would read differently?
