Spot the MASSIVE mistake when putting it all back together....

Anyone seen this before... Only had the machine two months but today mid pour the shot just stopped even though the pump continued. Now when I press the two or one cup button the pump turns on but no click and no water through the group head. So I stripped the solenoid valve and this is what I found...

I ran some tests today and observed this... All 20g weighed coffee, same batch. Set the volumetric dose at 42g (weight) Here are the weights of the subsequent shots: 43g 31g 30g 31.7g 32.2g 22.2g So I thought I'd do it with no portafilter in and see what is coming out: 113.6 112.7 107.6 106 107 104....

With the volumetric dosing, I did an experiment where I set it very high, like a full cup, but was still cutting short when pulling occasionally, again with the needle not hitting 9. Can you adjust the hot water outlet temp without affecting steam pressure? I suspect no as same boiler.
