Re: Silicone Gasket Longevity
After about 6 months I started having an issue with the silicone gasket on my GS/3. The portafilter would start to rotate off 1/2 way through the shot with water starting to pour out over the top. If not watched, the PF could actually fall off. Yesterday I decided to take it off and inspect it. Due...

PS; You do not absolutely need the internal bearing pullers to do this rebuild.
May be possible to remove old graphite components without breaking by soaking in vinegar solution overnight as it may be mineral buildup causing the adhesion.
Can be tapped out from rotor shaft opening also.

Re: Steam Boiler slow to raise pressure
Better culprit;
Opened steam boiler. Heating element sheath near top plate split exposing heating element ant white color internal packing. Virtually no scaling noted anywhere.
Also splitting seen in spiral looping. Maybe thats why it is slower to reach pressure.

Good thought. Would scale buildup cause a gradual slowing of pressure rise rather than an abrupt slowing?

Steam Boiler slow to raise pressure
Normally once a certain point is reached the steam boiler pressure rises fairly quickly however recently it has become quite slow to reach pressure.
Once it does however there is ample steam.

Just cleaned the old one. It looked pristine but I wiped it with alcohol anyway and avoided touching it with my hands.
I wonder if possible external and internal corrosion of the threaded receptacle could have interfered with the temperature sensing ability?

Re: Silicone long life Group Gaskets available
I am swayed to your view. Given how pliable the silicone material is removal is unlikely to be a problem. On the other hand, as you suggest, gunk could build up under the chamfered edge. It seems to me that the three gaskets we have obtained should last the life of the S1. That is my intent. A very...

Re: Silicone Group Gasket group buy interest
A light color so grinds and oil would be easier to see. Sort of my thought roo. Although it supposed to be food safe typically medical grade silicone is natural color, like a translucent gel. Likely the colorant adds additional chemicals. One the gasket is in place it doesn't matter what color it is.

Color Consensus Re: Silicone Group Gasket group buy interest
Out of curiosity
Can we get some consensus regarding the best color for gaskets?
I am looking into making them in quantity and be able to offer at a lower cost. I would pay for production and thus take some risk.
